thecabbagedetective That's a good looking frame, Aaron. I'm a bit sad that I can't see more of the details you put into Clank, but I think the action makes up for it. Just starting to work on the reel now - it will definitely get in.

  • silentheart00 replied

    Good work here.

n647 ullreym jakeblended silentheart00 Appreciate it you guys, thanks a bunch!

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

nekronavt Yeah I almost wanted to say it was intentional due to the later Ratchet and Clank games dialing up the bloom to like, 40, but it's a very valid piece of feedback and thus I've edited it, thanks!

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

yyukinoh1989 Yeah I probably should've rigged it but ended up moving the limbs manually by simply rotating and scaling them. I still have the neutral ones stored away but if you decide to do anything like this rigging may be a good idea.

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

shiennar You're very kind! For the record I have made a slightly updated version if you wanted to change it but the differences aren't *that* major so if you're happy with what you have then that's totally fine.

  • Katerina Novakova(shiennar) replied

thecabbagedetective Hmm, what a conundrum. I like the shinier version more, but I'll respect the artist and the reel will have the new final-final render in. :-)

  • Kent Trammell replied

thecabbagedetective You only have one speed, Mr. Rudderham: FULL STEAM AHEAD! It's always a blast seeing what you come up with.

On the other hand, keeping the background simple solves my critique from week 1. In that way it's a wise choice. The characters stand out really well this week.

I like the update from facebook feedback 👍

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

@theluthier Very much appreciated, thank you! I intend for the background to be much more complex come Week 4 so it's going to be interesting to see if I can manage to balance it.

i am not sure what rigged means but i think i understand how you die it with scaling.  is rigging some tool too to use when modeling?

  • silentheart00 replied

yyukinoh1989 Rigging is like adding a skeleton to a character to move it.  It's a more intuitive way for animators to animate something and you can constrain the movement so you don't get "impossible" poses.

  • galledark (galledark) replied

Very impressive ! and verry funny scene :)
i gonna look closer how to use the DoF effect, i'd like to make scene like yours ;)

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

galledark Trust me, DoF can be the life or death of your scene, it's a fantastic little touch that changes a lot.

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

    Day 1 done!

Didn't get much done unfortunately, 'cause I had to concentrate on Maths. But both good and bad news. The good being maths is not taking nearly as much time as I thought in the coming days, the bad being that not only did I not do much today but I wanted the bear standing up in the scene, and rigging is haaaaaaard, so I might just start the sculpt over again. Rather divided on that so be sure to tell me what you think would be the best idea!

Though I feel for a daily update there wasn't a lot here so I decided to give you a little something else, so here's an animated turntable of a Gadgebot from last week's homework:

Have a good day guys, and happy sculpting!

  • silentheart00 replied

thecabbagedetective If you really want the bear standing, then might as well start again and sculpt it standing if you have no interest in rigging it.  But that's just my opinion.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

thecabbagedetective I LOVE those spinning things of your!! Can't get enough of it 😃

    Cute bear you sculpted 😊

I watched the rigging course and found it all so difficult that I didn't even start on the rigging a dog exercise.... so I would start over too, but that just me 😉

Really amazing work. btw how do you make them turning animated? love it how you work. the bear also is amazing but indeed if you redo it maybe sculp him in the pose he should be . but he is really Nice sculped

  • Kent Trammell replied

thecabbagedetective Rigging is a tricky thing. If you haven't dabbled much, it's probably going to be faster to start the sculpt over than to get a crash course in rigging. This is a solid blockout though. I'm excited to see where you go with this.

Love the character turntable btw. You nailed those guys.

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

silentheart00 Yeah @theluthier seems to be saying the same. It's a shame but it'll probably be quicker anyways, cheers.

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

ssmurfmier1985 Why thank you, by the end of Week 4 you'll certainly be seeing more of them so stay tuned!
