@theluthier Yeah I did that a while back, maybe I should post that for comparison? But I just wanna say this isn't actually my finished homework, I just like to do daily updates like I did in last class. I still have more things to add, so should I keep doing that now I've been graded? 'Cause I wanna use my homework to my full potential, both for personal growth and to help others.
thecabbagedetective Oh whoops, I missed that the first image was a WIP. Heh well sure, keep pushing it further if you'd like! There's room for 1 or 2 +'s to be tacked on to your grade 👍
Day 2 done!
Damn am I looking forward to this coming together. Built another - admittedly more simplistic - building along with a path and a few pieces of clutter:
Pro tip: if you're gonna be duplicating a lot of geometrically identical objects then use Alt+D as opposed to Shift+D, this does two things:
A - Makes it so that editing one edits them all, so if you add a material or move vertices in edit mode it'll affect them all (though do note object mode geometry manipulation only affects that specific one).
B - Decreases memory used, which will allow your viewport to run faster (if/when it starts to get hectic) and for your scene to render quicker.
Looking at it longer the second building looks considerably more bare than the other, I definitely intend to improve that. Gonna be uploading the file when I'm done so y'all can have a poke around if you are so well inclined, but for now that's a day!
thecabbagedetective That's a great tip! Didn't know that. Definitely going to use that from now on. Thanks Aaron for sharing 😊
Also, I love how your scene is coming together. Love the little lights in there, that's a nice touch. The road looks great! I'll be looking forward to your update tommorow to see some more of this good stuff!
ssmurfmier1985 Yeah that tip has possibly saved me hours in render time haha, and ta for the feedback!
silentheart00 ccarrotnl mmahir07 Thank you alllllll kindly!
thecabbagedetective I use duplicate linked fairly often but never learned the hotkey. Great tip! Thanks for sharing 🙇🏻♂️
And it looks like you're going for the record of most primitives in a primitive scene. Do it up! 🤘
@theluthier The teacher has become... the taught...
Nah in all seriousness glad to be of help! I'm more than happy to wear that title, believe it or not but I had much grander plans for my primitives exercise involving an army but I decided that yeah... that's probably too much haha.
thecabbagedetective Aaron I always wanted to mention once that you are so talented, selecting grandiose projects and working very hard, while having just less than one year experience in Blender? You will be a star after another one :-)
Great progress as always, it is nice to visit your BC1-1808 room, great atmosphere here
csehz Well damn, that's mighty kind of you, thanks! I hope you're right, this is the biggest thing going for me. Glad to hear about the atmosphere as well, nice to know this place is inviting.
Wow so amazing . Those lights too are damn pretty :D
Did you recorded this xD I wish i could see youre proces in this . trully amazing work . a lot of nice fine details.
How long you model already ?
yyukinoh1989 Why ta very much! As I've said before lighting was a real weakness of mine so I'm striving to improve, glad to hear it's coming along nicely! And unfortunately no, though it's a cool idea. Brought up the idea of streaming my creations to a friend and they seemed receptive of the idea so maybe that's something I should try? Could be fun! Also it's a bit difficult to pinpoint how long I've spent so far but if I include today's work I'd say probably 3-4 hours or so.
Day 3 done!
So here's my third - and presumably last - medieval house for this render. Certainly better than the second house. This is what I primarily ̶s̶t̶o̶l̶e̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ was inspired by and made a few changes.
Also here's the camera angle for which the scene shall be taking place:
Copy pasted a couple buildings as you can see, a good showcase of where Alt+D is really damn useful. Hopefully I'll be done tomorrow, just gotta fill in the blanks essentially. Hope you had an enjoyable gander and good luck to you all!
thecabbagedetective I love how this is coming together! I like the low camera angle too, though I did notice that it looks a bit like your holding your camera askew, the slope of the street seems fairly steep. Great work Aaron, looking forward to some colors :-D
damn this is beautifull . That Suzanne too on the top of the house really Nice tought about it .
ssmurfmier1985 Ta very much, and yeah the angled camera is intentional. Providing all goes well it'll make sense when it's finished!
