thecabbagedetective dat lights make him looks like he's telling scary stories behind the bonfire :D Looking good!

  • smurfmier1985 replied

thecabbagedetective hehehe yeah that makes me chuckle 😂

That lighting on the bear is brilliant!! I think the end results is really really good Aaron, love it 😄😍

  • smurfmier1985 replied

thecabbagedetective strangely enough that sounds like a lot of fun in a very weird way, will check some videos of that as well 😬

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

nekronavt Awesome, that was the vibe I was going for, glad it paid off!

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

ssmurfmier1985 Glad to hear you liked the lighting as well, cheers to you both!

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

Just letting everyone know that week 3's homework had been updated and is unlikely to change.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

thecabbagedetective That Melvin is wickedly cool!! 😀😬

  • silentheart00 replied

thecabbagedetective Good Melvin!  The lighting on sketchfab defaults to something really bright, so it's blowing out the details a little bit.  Fun personality, good details.  Sure wish there were details on the back, but hey, you did what you could.  Good work.

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

ssmurfmier1985 Glad to hear you like it, cheers!

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

silentheart00 Yeah you got a point, I toned it down a bit. I wanted to do back details but aside form spots I wasn't sure what to do. I believe you were the one to make him bootylicious so I didn't wanna steal that haha. Thanks for the feedback!

Day... well not really a working day, but a day done!

Today was a good day methinks...

It was honestly kinda weird doing absolutely no Blender at all today. A part of me feels bad because "wasted time" but I know deep down it's important to cool down, and hey, these two games - one being a new arrival - helped a bunch!

Gonna start work on the final project tomorrow, concerned if I'm gonna be able to finish it so I'm just gonna have to go full throttle ala previous class and then have a serious cooldown period come the class' end. Speaking of the class I've been looking at some of the submissions you guys have posted and daaaaaamn you guys have been doing good, makes me wish I tried a bit harder haha. I haven't looked at all of them yet but hey that's what tomorrow is for.  For anyone tidying up their sculpts I wish you the best of luck and I wish all of you the best. Peace!

  • smurfmier1985 replied

thecabbagedetective Sounds like time excellent spent to me! 😉 Very curious what ya gonna make this week.. I'll stay tuned!

  • Kent Trammell replied

thecabbagedetective Two thumbs up on the torso/legs proportional shift. It looks way more bear-like imo. Overall a great job on the bear! He's come a long way. It's awesome seeing progress like this through your WIP images 🤘

Primitives is good, especially that sphere - wow, super spherical. Melvin 2.0 came to rawk. Good stuff, Aaron - A+ this week 👏

You can probably tell I like experimenting with lighting...

You're going to love October's class.

thecabbagedetective R&R&R: Rest, relaxation, recharge 🔋

  • silentheart00 replied

thecabbagedetective Even if it was just spots on his back, it would feel like it was at the same polish quality as the front, if that makes sense.

  • Zsolt Cseh(csehz) replied

thecabbagedetective Aaron your personal class room seems bigger meaning longer than the main thread of the Class :D

Great sculpting again, you again put everything into the week which was possible

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

Anyone got an idea on how to cut a hole into a cylinder side whilst still being topologically correct? It's also on a metal surface so I want to use the bevel tool around the edges to sharpen it up. Can't really find an image of what I want to do unfortunately...

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

    Day... 1 done?

Bit of a late start for me, research needed to be carried out. I'll just have to pick up the slack in the coming days but I must say the discoveries were worth it. I learnt that Yakuza Kiwami 2 is indeed a great game and you should get it (though get Yakuza 0 first).

Whilst I don't want to give away what I'm working on *too* much I will say that I'm expanding on my week 2 homework, the Clank one. For today I was working on this female infobot which shows up in the second game and is promptly never seen again.

I gotta use my imagination a bit because my PS2 is in the attic and there are no good reference images online (aside from this one I suppose) so I'm gonna need to fill in the blanks. Here's what I got so far:

No one would believe I like this HDRI...

I've already spotted a location or two in which it can be improved but I like what I got so far. Now would be an excellent time for a turntable... IF I HAD ONE. Promise you'll get one tomorrow! With that being said I'll be catching up more tomorrow, both in my exercise and in the threads, and I look forward to what you guys are creating! See ya!

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

ssmurfmier1985 Didn't get a notification for this, odd. Either way that could definitely point me in the right direction, so cheers! I'll have a more in depth look when I wake up.
