Week 1

Toy Truck New look (freshly buyed )

i did have changed like in the wheel and some slight collor diffrence but i lost the first file somehow .

File Of toy truck finished state
toy truck finished

What i learned
-learned how to use HDRI. change intensity , rotate the world.
-learned about the diffrent kind of lamps(point lamp, sun, etc and when to use them best .
-learned about the intensity how to increase size and how this effects the scene. and how to change the collors to the lamps.
-learned how to render with higher result . (more samples) and noticed that filmic and default settings give difrent light effects.
-learned how to add collors and how to connect diffrent nodes with each other(still dont know much about nodes what and when to use or how to organize them but i am still practicing :) )
-Learned how to make someting more plastic or more metalic
-learned how to make brushed metal
-learned how to add scratches dirt and dust (trough i still wonder why some spaces arent covered with dirt (like in the yellow its good visible where there is and not )

So overall this week was so fun . difficult but then again everyting new at first is kinda difficult .
The most important thing is i learned so much and that while having fun with it .

day 1 trying to get into the shading hope it look somehow good . still want to add more like some dust dirt or stickers but i first gotta learn the lightning course and try that then i continue to improve this one :) .
tips are welcome or if someting looks strange let me know

  • smurfmier1985 replied

yyukinoh1989 looks good to me, well done 😊

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

ssmurfmier1985 thanks a lot. Gonna do my best again this month trough I still am confused by all those setups and options you have. Sometimes i don't know what certain things do

  • smurfmier1985 replied

yyukinoh1989 Very understandable, with practice it will become easier I promise 😉 I can recommend watching the Pancake Hobo course and some chapters of the Shader Forge, those really helped me to understand shading a bit better.

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

Thank you ssmurfmier1985 i gonna add them to my watching list. Tonight I'll start the lightning course and hopefully I can somewhere start Friday with the bedroom so that in the weekend I can try to learn more and try to improve the 2 homeworks

Hey Aaron glad to see you here again :D i still wonder how it happend xD  but it sure is a nice touch . gonna try to later on add someting like dirt etc if i get some extra time :) . off learning to lightning now (and checking the pumpking contest .

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

yyukinoh1989 Hope to see you there, it's gonna be fun!

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

    thecabbagedetective
so you also goona join the contest ? can we use references from internet ? as inspiration ? i just wonder if i would even make a chance. i still am new so i guess compared to the pro's my renders will not be that wow as well the modelling . might check if i can find a guide of how to somehow model a pumpking

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

yyukinoh1989 Gonna do my best to join, got a lot of things going on with the class and other projects but I'll certainly try my best! As for references I don't see why not, but in case that's not a reassuring enough answer you could ask in the contest thread and possibly get a more official answer.

Also whilst not strictly a course or tutorial there is a time lapse of Kent sculpting a Jack 'O Lantern (part 1 is here) which could possibly point you in the right direction.

Thank you that sure will help me with it :)

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

played around with lightning , collors and HDRI . gonna try to also do a version where i more mimic the one of the exersice since this one is too light i guess :p
off to my bed now . totally forgot about time xD

  • William Miller(williamatics) replied

yyukinoh1989  I like the truck and the bedroom.  While the truck is rather similar to other submissions, your bedroom really stands out.  I think it's excellent.  (I can understand about the time; I always work at night.)

  • silentheart00 replied

yyukinoh1989 Nice, lovely morning feel to this!  The yellow patch of light is strange to me, though.  It doesn't seem right for some reason.  But good start so far!

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

williamatics hey thanks. The bedroom took quit a while. I am happy you like it and that it stands out.

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

silentheart00 thank you. I kept it pretty soft but maybe it's still a bit too much. I'll see what others think :)

  • Kent Trammell replied

Wonderful shading a lighting work so far yyukinoh1989! The toy truck is good already. If you decide to add stickers or dust+dirt, that'll be icing on the cake.

And your daytime scene is lovely. The colors of the landscape in the window matches perfectly with the shadows in the room. Very consistent lighting 👍

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

@theluthier thank you so much. I just wonder. With the bedroom when I took render preview in the workspace  it was really slow. Is there a way to somehow speed that up?
