Collaborations

My homework thread for the  October 2018 Class.

bathroom week 4

Week 1

Toy Truck New look (freshly buyed )

Toy Truck dirty + old

i did have changed like in the wheel and some slight collor diffrence but i lost the first file somehow .

File Of toy truck finished state
toy truck finished

What i learned
-learned how to use HDRI. change intensity , rotate the world.
-learned about the diffrent kind of lamps(point lamp, sun, etc and when to use them best .
-learned about the intensity how to increase size and how this effects the scene. and how to change the collors to the lamps.
-learned how to render with higher result . (more samples) and noticed that filmic and default settings give difrent light effects.
-learned how to add collors and how to connect diffrent nodes with each other(still dont know much about nodes what and when to use or how to organize them but i am still practicing :) )
-Learned how to make someting more plastic or more metalic
-learned how to make brushed metal
-learned how to add scratches dirt and dust (trough i still wonder why some spaces arent covered with dirt (like in the yellow its good visible where there is and not )

So overall this week was so fun . difficult but then again everyting new at first is kinda difficult .
The most important thing is i learned so much and that while having fun with it .

WEEK 4

nekronavt sure this is the file blend file

thanks for taking a look . somehow i also cannot get the bump map working on the floor . not sure what reason that has

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

yyukinoh1989 the problem was about normals smoothing.

    Current state

    Delete this two n-gon faces

    Now everything is correct

I can't look at your bump map issue because texture itself isn't packed into blend file.

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

nekronavt Thank you so much . never knew that would be the problem :o.
if you like i could share the bump and floor tile i made ?

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

yyukinoh1989 yes, I can take a look at it too.

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

    nekronavt

i made it myself (both) so maybe i did someting wrong . hope you know the issue :)

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

yyukinoh1989 your bump node isn't do anything because it's "distance" value is 0 :)

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

    nekronavt
i tryed the value of 1 but it doesnt really looks like it has effect. i also tryed out a color ramp to see if that helped but still not much happening. eighter i dont see it or it does not work like it suppose to .

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

yyukinoh1989 strange, it works for me. You have different mapping size for bump texture btw, maybe it's what confuses you?

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

nekronavt edited: my fault didnt plugged into the glossy shader

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

@theluthier  i finally finished it . hope i still can get graded of it since i really would like to know how i did(what is good or bad etc) .
the wood texture is from the internet but the floor texture and bump map where made by me .
i went for a somehow shiny glossy bathroom.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

yyukinoh1989 Nice work! There is some splotsiness on the toilet and left side of the cabinet, probably from the denoiser. The white wood is a bit too shiny I think. Floor looks nice, the gold is nice and shiny, good mirror and zo really like the curtains. Great job! 😄👍🏻

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

ssmurfmier1985 thank you I am happy you live it. Somehow I rendered at 6000 samples but even with denoising I can't get rid of it fully.

Maybe the white frame is indeed a bit too glossy. Should probably turn that down a bit.

  • Mahir Tasin(mahir07) replied

yyukinoh1989 Nice Yukino! The texture you made for the floor is very nice!

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

mmahir07  thank you so much. Happy to hear you like the texture.

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

ssmurfmier1985 do you have any idea how I could get rig of the last noise (at left of lavabo and toilet and under lavabo. ) should I increase samples or try something else. Denise is on and I rendered with 6000 samples

  • smurfmier1985 replied

yyukinoh1989 I think those are artifacts caused by the denoiser. Maybe turn down it's strength? I dunno for sure I'm more familiar with Eevee than with Cycles, so I never use the denoiser..

  • yukino hatake(yukinoh1989) replied

@theluthier hope you still want to take some time to critique it ? not sure if you got the first notification about it :)

  • Kent Trammell replied

yyukinoh1989 Sorry I've been in my recording dungeon mostly. Congrats on finishing the arch viz! I trust this means you're feeling better 👍

Overall the lighting reads well and believable. The materials are pretty good as well. Perhaps a little too glossy on the white trim paint and the gold feels a bit too mirror-y. More often I see gold hardware/fixture have more of a brushed finish like this:

That brushed finish would register a little more believable in my opinion. Lastly, the dark window frame is an interesting choice. Everything else in the scene is generally lighter in color but then there's this dark wood-stained window frame. Can't say I've seen that before and it initially strikes me as odd. That said, the wood grain looks pretty good as raw wood - the bump map and grain size it well done.

Overall it's an A from me. I appreciate you coming back to the homework after the class is over! I'll add your additional XP now.

@theluthier thanks a lot. I think of this while making my next project.

I indeed am getting better. I still am home but feel that with each day it slowly getting better each time.

It was really fun to make this so that's why my project now is a house I create. Gonna model everything from start and then shade and light it with everything I learned so far :D.

Again thanks for you're time and also thanks for the exp too :)
