2019 Goals

Moving over the thread from the other site.  Didn't have a lot of things on there, so it should be easy.

Hi guys. It's been a few years since I've drawn anything seriously, and now I have a DND group with a diverse cast of characters as inspiration. My first project is my half-elf hexblade. Here's a rough face concept with base colors laid down. Feel free to really rip into my art as I need to learn how to handle tough critiques as well as know where I'm weak.

I need to make the ears less pointy as I forgot I was a half-elf. Also, can't seem to quite get that spiky punk hair I want, but I'm sure it'll work itself out in iterations.

Working on the hair, trying to see if I can get it how I want it to be. Been playing around with the chalk brush and I really do like it. My facial proportions might be off, like maybe need to lower the nose just a touch or just redo the nose entirely.

Critiques are welcome.

Armor concept silhouettes.

Found a posture online (terrible, I know, but needed something quick). I like the asymmetrical spikes along the figure more; brings an interesting movement and balance to the overall figure. Think I'll focus on pointy elements throughout the armor since the character can be a bit abrasive lol.

    Alopecia, anyone?  =]

Desaturated the lips just a touch to have a better balance with the eyes.  Might go for a blue-black hairstyle to help balance out the overall warmness of the skin.

silentheart00 what does Alopecia means? Love how those eyes turned out. Really great work.

yyukinoh1989 Alopecia areata is a medical term meaning an autoimmune disease where the body attacks hair follicles.  In extreme cases, a person can have no hair on their bodies at all.  The person affected is otherwise healthy, just hairless.

    silentheart00 Ha! You're funny 😆 😂

I like the details in the lips, and those eyes really pop! Good progress 😊

Curly hair is really difficult to draw if you've never drawn it before.  I'll give it a few more tries, see if I can get anything I like, but might just give him his straight hair like in the original concept.  I thought I should challenge myself and it would be different from Chaos's hair type, but man, it's proving difficult, heh.  So instead, here's some eyebrows and eyelashes.

silentheart00 great work it's looking great. Curly hair indeed is difficult but I am sure you will get it work out.

Sigh.... I can't do hair apparently.  Well, I'll take a break from that and work on the more detailed elements, like earrings.  Hazard has his own set of earrings because of story reasons lol.  Oh, and freckles!  Why not?

    Maybe he'll just be bald...

    silentheart00 Alopecia, anyone?  =]

I'm sure some time away from it will help, you're talented enough you can do it! Just take a break, play some horizon zero dawn, and come back to it with fresh eyes 😊

ssmurfmier1985 lol, thanks.  I should really pick up my second playthrough again, but Red Dead 2 is taking up my time currently.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

    silentheart00 Also a great choice! 😎

  • silentheart00 replied

    @smurfmier1985 For sure!

  • silentheart00 replied

Well, we're going with this hairstyle, why not?

Mildly on the fence about the scar placement, but I think it helps to direct the eye towards the eyes.  Now for the side views.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

silentheart00 I'm liking this hair!! Great choice :) the placement of the scar of the face I like. It might be more dynamic if it doesn't go straight down on the neck, but more towards the throats like in an arc? Just a thought. Keep it up! ^^

  • silentheart00 replied

ssmurfmier1985 Thanks!  That's not a bad idea, but I might curve it towards the back instead of towards the front, if that makes sense.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

silentheart00 oh yes that sounds even better! 😬

  • silentheart00 replied

Adding in some jewelry, adjusted the scars a bit.

Tribal wolf dog tag.  Need to add some wear and tear.

  • silentheart00 replied

Now we're getting to the side view!

  • smurfmier1985 replied

silentheart00 Nice progress, the wear and tear on the dog tag is looking great!

    ssmurfmier1985 Thanks!

    More side development.
