Darius's Blender progress

I wanted to track my progress so I wrote this. I am a complete beginner right now, I hope things will change. This is the low poly rocket from the course for beginners.

Did  you know that Blender can do this automatically (different colors for different Objects)?

  • dariusjohnson replied

No, I did not, thank you for the information.

  • dariusjohnson replied

    My first head.

  • dariusjohnson replied

    I made a revolver.

  • dariusjohnson replied

I did the puppy for the  Blender Mesh Modeling Bootcamp, it didn't come up as clean as I would have wanted, so there is definitely room for improvement, but all things considered, I am satisfied with it.

  • Shawn Blanch(blanchsb) replied

Wireframe mode also supports 1 color per object. Super helpful when needed.

An airplane from the Hard surface modeling course.

A wall of mailboxes I made from this course. I am going to make some swords next.

  • dariusjohnson replied

I know I said I was going to make swords, but I couldn't find interesting references so I made this Colt buntline.

The main body isn't topologically correct, but I am satisfied with it.

Your skills are improving little by little. Keep it up!

Wow, you are working hard and really making tons of progress! I really love that temple. Are the hieroglyphs part of the geometry? Asking because you mentioned it getting to be a load on your computer. If it's geometry I think once you get comfortable creating height/normal/displacement maps you can bake that detail off and (hopefully) lower the load.

Looking forward to seeing more progress on all your work!

  • dariusjohnson replied

The hieroglyphs are indeed part of the geometry, I made it that way because I don't really know how to use materials and normal maps in particular and when I made the temple I was focusing on other things. My computer is at least 5 years old and was not built for 3d modeling so Blender crashes frequently and things get really hard to work on if the scene gets too dense, that's why I am now doing smaller and more manageable things.

Thank you for your support, I appreciate it.

I made a grenade launcher, the trigger is not there and I messed up the proportions a little bit since I have neither measurements nor front views of the object in question.

  • dariusjohnson replied

I made the helmet the rebels wore in star wars, It misses a few details, tho.

I did an Argentinian  tank used during world war 2, the Nahuel DL 43

  • Karen Trevino(ketre) replied

keep up the awesome work! this is awesome!

  • dariusjohnson replied

This is the type 92 armored car, a Japanese vehicle used during world war 2.

  • dariusjohnson replied

I made another WW2 Japanese vehicle: The Type 94 tankette.

  • Matthew Fricker(frikkr) replied

Loving the tanks! Your modelling is coming on really well and you are churning them out so fast. Great work!

  • dariusjohnson replied

Yet another tank from World war 2 Japan, this is the type 97 Te-Ke tankette. You may have noticed from the design and the name that this particular vehicle is an evolution of the previous one which was created from the type 92, just a little trivia for you.
