BC1-1808 Homework, Pavel Mazanik

Collaborations

My homework thread for the  August 2018 Class

So here we are.

For "Model with primitives" I have two submissions. First is the one I made while watching "Blender Mesh Modeling Bootcamp" in 2.79. Here it is

And the second one I made in attempt to get in touch with 2.8. You know this phun about how ships in bottles are made? Parts and glue are thrown into and bottle and shaken. Sometimes result is trash, sometimes a ship. I hope this one is closer to ship :D

ssmurfmier1985 You can do cool stuff with procedural materials in Blender indeed (and this bone material is defenetly not that cool :D) But in my opinion for complex object it's easier to get good results with painted textures. And sometimes mix of both procedural and painted.

Good stuff here.  I think I'll poke around at your lights to see what you did there.

nekronavt Holy hell that is badass, I don't really know what else to say really. Just awesome.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

nekronavt I love the turn table!!!

  • Jake Korosi(jakeblended) replied

nekronavt This looks like something straight out of Mad Max.  Very well done!

  • Kent Trammell replied

nekronavt You showed week 2 zero mercy. Stupendous job, Pavel! I snuck an early peek at your skull progress and knew this was going to be good. Love the turntable too. A+ easily 👏

    Thank you all :)

nekronavt Amazing presenting on the skull. The glow of those lamps works great

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

    swikni thank you :)

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

So, I started sculpting it and at the end realized, that I was doing it all with mouse xD

Actually, I did't do this the way Kent does on stream. Cube was formed with a few clicks of "Flatten" brush, cone was made with grab (sharp curve) flatten and scrape. Sphere with smooth and inflate. And symmetry and lock options helps a lot.

And here is my Melvin Sculpt

Preparing to make a extra credit work. :)

  • silentheart00 replied

nekronavt Whoops!  Well, at least you got some mouse sculpting practice lol.  Melvin looks good, some bumpy areas, the bent leg is longer than the other one, arms are a bit square.  Good job.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

nekronavt Looks good so far 😃looking forward to see your human face or your something else, dunno what you're making yet 😊

  • Jere Haapaharju(swikni) replied

nekronavt Reading silentheart00  Silent's critiques is always a pleasure.

It's funny to hear that someone chooses to sculpt with a mouse lol. Seems to work for you since the primitives are so neat. Did you mouse-sculpt Melvin also?

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

swikni I didn't choose to sculpt with mouse, it was an accident xD. No, Melvin was sculpted with tablet 4 month ago.

    ssmurfmier1985  thank you :)

silentheart00 yeah, Melvin is a bit messed up, but I'm lazy to redo this one :D . Maybe I'll refine him if I'll have time til the end of the course. :)

  • silentheart00 replied

swikni Heh, thanks.  I try to be constructive and supportive in my critiques.  There's no sense in bashing someone down when they're doing they're best and learning.  We were all beginners once.

nekronavt Well hey, sounds like your critical eye is being developed!  Keep at it!

  • Kent Trammell replied

nekronavt An all-mouse digital sculpture? I knew the legends were real! Haha gerat job. That cone's sides are laser-flat 👌

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

@theluthier :D I know one guy in russian community, who does awesome sculpts with mouse.

And here goes my WIP. (with tablet this time :D)

Two and half hour from icosphere to this.

Propably will finish it on saturday. Don't have enough time this week :(
