All CG Cookie challenges will now be easily accessible to everyone.
When you complete a course, you might like to tackle a project to test the knowledge you have gained, challenges are the best way to do this.
Here you will find all current and past challenges, so even if you wish to take part in a challenge that has expired you can still post a WIP thread to receive feedback and ask questions, and post a final render in the Gallery to reap the glory and satisfaction of completing a project.
A challenge rather than a contest because its for you to challenge yourself and the knowledge you gained from a course to create a masterpiece of your own making.
A rules-based challenge to maintain consistency and fairness, whilst also maintaining safety to prevent accidents.
A challenge to be the best you can be from the knowledge you have today while striving to be even better tomorrow than you was yesterday.
Most importantly, a challenge to have some fun.

spikeyxxx is correct in saying February, however the theme is not quite Valentine's.
I decided to go with something a little different, but something all artist love to create.
February 27th is a special day,
its national Pokemon day.
Everyone loves Pokemon, right?
I'm not quite ready to announce it yet, hopefully early next week.
Dates will be February 6th through to the 27th.

The only guarantee is that there will be some sort of spin on the topic. The topic may seem straight forward but Adrian will think of a way to complicate it, I'm just hoping it is not another gif. Does sound like fun, am looking forward to. seeing what people do.

I think with the recent large classes that dropped: Cubicity, Assemble, Panels, Astray, and Off-Road - whew, I forgot how many kinda big drops there were recently - the team may have been really focused on the content. (And the Astray/Halloween challenge wasn't that long ago.)
Always good to let them know we're excited about something though!

Glad you are looking forward to a new challenge, I'm in the process of drafting the next one, and I may decide to hold it through January.
The Hallowe'en challenge was fun, and as wadred mentioned there have been a few new courses lately, some behind the curtain work happening and I also had a mini project lighting and compositing 'Melvin's Dream' animation by our CGC member ttanya53 .
I hope to finish the draft for the next challenge this week/early next, and release the following week, and as I mentioned hosting all through January, so keep an eye out for more info.
I appreciate knowing there is the desire for more challenges, and the plan is to host at least 4 per year, approx. every 3 months and running for 1 month, possibly longer, depending on the challenge.
