What - A Low Poly Space Station
When - July 5th 2021 - August 1st 2021
Why - To challenge yourself and practice what you learnt from the Low Poly Rocket Course
Using the same techniques and style as your low poly rocket, model a space station Elon Musk's SpaceX would be proud of. Your space station should be built with a traditional modular space station design. Your space station can be of the orbital type (floating in space), or if you have space in your yard, a ground based planetary outpost.
Those more experienced out there, can take an extra challenge if you wish, and land / dock your rocket on your space station.
You are encouraged to create a WIP thread in the community forum with the title Space Station Challenge 2021 WIP - [Enter Station Name] , Tiangong, Genesis, and International Space Station names are all taken.
Your WIP thread should consist of progressive images with a short explanation of the process at each stage.
When you post your result in the Gallery, add a link to your WIP in the description so the judges can easily find it.
A challenge rather than a contest because its for you to challenge yourselves and the knowledge you gained from a course to create a masterpiece of your own making.
A rules based challenge to maintain consistency and fairness, whilst also maintaining safety to prevent accidents from space debris.
A challenge to be the best you can be from the knowledge you have today, while striving to be even better tomorrow than you was yesterday.
Most importantly, a challenge to have some fun.
The CG Cookie crew @wesburke , @theluthier , @jlampel and @waylow will review and pick 4 Space Stations - criteria to include low poly design, name and WIP thread.

If you wish to create a low poly space station after completing the Low Poly Rocket Course you can still use this challenge as part of your learning process. You can still create a WIP thread and post your result in the gallery, and receive feedback. 👍
We have seen a lot of good stuff in the challenge WIP threads. Keep it up everyone 👍
Its not too late for anyone to join the challenge, the judging is set to commence from Monday 2nd August, so you still have time to WIP up a space station.

You're too kind @adrian2301 !! I had so much fun learning throughout this challenge, I appreciate the encouragement to join it! I still know I have a bazillion things to learn, but I am having a good time doing so!
The plan was to render in Cycles, but it was just soooo time consuming and computer hogging, so I just went with Evee and I still love the results.
The music is a "mash" of two tracks from Armageddon that I love and thought it was appropriate haha

As a reminder, the purpose was to challenge yourself and use your knowledge in a project., to learn more from the experience and have fun. I have read everyone's WIP thread throughout the month and I believe you achieved all of these things, and that makes me happy. Thank you all.
