The shafts in the image above are much closer than with the cart in Vadim's artwork. Furthermore our cart body seems to be heavier than the one above.

  • Vadim Zaitsev(harbinger_ua) replied

Hey amblender I love your idea. Feel free to add those compartments. In regards to the frame, my initial idea was option 1, but option 2 is also totally valid.

  • Vadim Zaitsev(harbinger_ua) replied

Well that one is on me hehe. You can make the shafts a bit longer as it is indeed for a horse. But not too long as it might ruin the overall balance of the silhouette.

  • Vadim Zaitsev(harbinger_ua) replied

    Great job! I love it

  • Kent Trammell replied

You are exactly right duerer. I didn't even realize about the spices filling the vases till you said it here 😅

If we have 10 vases in the end, we could add the extras to the shelves being included on the unseen sides of the crate. I forget who mentioned that idea but it's gold.

I tried linking the camera to my file so I could match the crate, but there is no camera in the main crate file.  What do I do?  I haven't even started modeling the crate, and I worry that I may not end up contributing anything...

  • Angela (amblender) replied

Have you tried changeing the view in  the main crate file. It is in the cameraview in the file on the google drive. Use 1 or 3 on the number pad

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

amblender I've blocked out the crate using the "Inset Tool" so that I automatically got 45 degree corners for the ends of the crate's frame bars:

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

@theluthier It was amblender here who had the idea with the compartments and Vadim harbinger_ua likes this idea, too 😀!

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

Welcome to the team, yolopeno 😀! I'm looking forward to see your crate 😀!

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

Wow, Wolfgang wograebn , that's looking great 👍!

  • yolopeno replied

Hi people, this is my work in progress on the crate . Any feedback would be nice.

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

williamatics You also need to download the "Images" folder (159 MB packed), unzip it and copy it into the folder where you duplicate on your computer all the files from this Collab's "Google Drive":

The folder structure within your local copy has to be the same as on "Google Drive" so that all links work properly.  This can be done automatically with the "Google Drive Synchronizaton App" mentioned under "Useful Links" at the top of this thread. blanchsb has recorded a good instructional video (last link under "Useful Links") for this app.

If everything is installed properly, then you need to press  0 on your Numpad for "Camera View" since the reference image is there as background image:

And don't worry, as @theluthier mentioned already in the first livestream, you will have enough time for creating the blockout of your asset 😀!

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

Hey, yolopeno, that's already looking great 👍! I would add a slight bevel on the edges of the framework for that create as Kent @theluthier did with his treasure chest (here a screenshot of my version):

  • William Miller(williamatics) replied

I could not download it because it said I had disabled third-party cookies.  [Insert CG Cookie joke here]  I do not recall ever doing any such thing.  Furthermore, when I clicked 'learn more' it gave me instructions for enabling cookies on Chrome.  I use Firefox, not Chrome.  How can I fix this?

  • William Miller(williamatics) replied

By "it" I mean the main folder, not the Google Drive program.

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

I'll need to take a closer look on it and ask @theluthier so that you'll get access to the data you need 🙂!

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

williamatics You basically need two files for getting the aligned camera with the background image:

    1) [PATH_TO_YOUR_LOCAL_COPY_OF_THE_GOOGLE_DRIVE_COLLAB2021_FOLDER]\CGCookie Collab 2021\SPICE-VENDORS-HOUSE\SCENES\spice-venders-house_ASSEMBLY.blend

=> This file contains the aligned camera.

    2) [PATH_TO_YOUR_LOCAL_COPY_OF_THE_GOOGLE_DRIVE_COLLAB2021_FOLDER]\CGCookie Collab 2021\SPICE-VENDORS-HOUSE\IMAGES\REF\Vadim-Zaytsev_Spice-Vendors-House.png

=> This is the background image image within the aligned camera [press on the numpad if you're not already in "Camera View" for seeing that image]

The cookie settings in Firefox can be accessed by typing about:preferences#privacy in the URL header of Firefox:

If download problems should still exist, please ask @theluthier what to do.
