So, here is my Toy Truck submission link. Sadly, I lost my file with this materials setup, so I decided to make a new one for EEVEE lighting, so the colors a different. First thing I noticed - the world light was too bright so I reduced 5 times. Then I reduced F-Stops on camera to 3 and enabled DoF. All "suns" also have "Contact Shadows" checked and color and energy params transferred from the material. And SSR, AO, DoF and Bloom settings of EEVEE are enabled. Also, I put irradiance volume on the scene and baked indirect lighting, not sure, if it helps a lot.

    Here are both renders.

    Cycles

EEVEE (updated render a few posts down)

nekronavt Nice job, man. The Eevee render looks very good too :)

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

    ccarrotnl thanks! 😀

  • smurfmier1985 replied

nekronavt Looks like you found the magic buttons to make it look mega awesome in eevee! 😄

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

ssmurfmier1985 Thanks 🙂. Actually, it's a whole bunch of magic checkboxes and sliders 😀

I added a 2.8 blend file to topic's head if anyone is interested in my scene setup.

  • bun-bun replied

Both images look really good and believable.

nekronavt Thank you so much for adding your Blend-File to your thread. Tried to make Eevee work, but my results are looking horrible compared to Cycles. Looking forward to learn how it's done right!

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

bun-bun You are welcome! And feel free to ask any questions.

  • Dragonice (dragonice69) replied

Both renders are looking really great. In EEVEE reflections on the floor look a little weird thought.

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

dragonice69 yeah, I agree, screen space reflections can be weird sometimes. I put a reflection plane on the scene and now it makes a bit more sense :D

Will tweak this thing a bit later.

nekronavt Very nice!  Thanks for talking about how you got Eevee to look this good and uploading your blend file!  I will have to take a deeper look.

  • Dragonice (dragonice69) replied

nekronavt Wow. I admire You for solving a problem so fast. I am sitting on my truck now for almoust 6h and still having lots of troubles. I am solving them after a while but usually it takes a really long time :D

    I think I need a break ;p

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

nekronavt Damn, that Eevee render is impressive. Haven't gotten my head around it yet so I can respect someone taking the charge, good stuff!

  • Kent Trammell replied

I can't believe how comparable your Eevee version is to your Cycles version! I never would have guessed one was Eevee. I'm very impressed both with you and the engine. Awesome work 👏

EDIT: I tweeted about it 😅

  • smurfmier1985 replied

@theluthier I see a lot of people guessing wrong on twitter 😆

  • Kent Trammell replied

ssmurfmier1985 Holy smokes, there are a lot of wrong guesses! Proving my point 😅

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

silentheart00 thank you and you are welcome. 🙂

dragonice69 well, I have some time with EEVEE during previous class, I guess it helps 🙂

    thecabbagedetective thank you 🙂

@theluthier wow, didn't expect that reaction © 😂 Eevee is really capable. You can see awesome works on ArtStation, like this one for example. This guy is totally a wizard or something.

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

The effect of the energy drink is gone, so I’ll finish with this for today (3:44 am at my place).

Forced to use some hacks to prevent light to go through the wall corners, but not all places are fixed yet 😂

And had to do something with this lamps translucent material...

  • smurfmier1985 replied

nekronavt I like the shadows the light is casting on the bed! Very nice 😊

  • silentheart00 replied

nekronavt Nice work.  Would you share some of your hacks for preventing the light from going through the corners?  Katerina seems to be having a similar problem, too.

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

    ssmurfmier1985 thank you 🙂

silentheart00 sure, it's pretty simple, actually. I just blocked it with another piece of geometry. It's called LightBlock and LightBlock.001 on my scene.

Here is my blend file for 2.8

And here is current state render. Added some volumetrics to it just for fun. I'll make a combined submission post when all will be done and will upload up to date blend files.
