nekronavt Wow, your bedroom scene looks pretty good. Some smaller issues visible, but way more realistic than attempts I have seen so far.
Guess it is a good idea for me to spend some time learning Eevee after finishing up homework for this week, since we are going to use Eevee in next weeks' renders.
I'll keep in mind to come here and ask many questions instead of cowering under my desk crying. ;)

  • smurfmier1985 replied

nekronavt oh wow, the volumetric light really takes it to the next level! Beautiful 😊

How do you add volumetric light?

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

bun-bun thank you :) I'll try to figure out, how to handle remaining issues by the deadline 🙂

ssmurfmier1985 thanks. The scene has an object called "Volume". This is just a cube with Principled Volume material. Feel free to examine it. And, of course, you should enable "Volumetric" in EEVEE settings. You can see my settings in blend file too.😉

nekronavt Thanks! I will check it out 😬

    Week #1 Homework Submission

So, I rendered toy truck in Cycles again too keep color consistent and did some tweaks in Eevee. Here we go.

    Eevee:

And here goes the bedroom lighting

    Night, Cycles:

    Night, Eevee:

Well, what can I say? Eevee is awesome, but it needs more dances with a tambourine to get it right with interior lighting. I don't want to spend any more time with this exercises, because I feel like my eyes are blurred. I'll try to nail it on week 4  👊

All my files are available to dissect :)

nekronavt Looking nice!! The results are pretty close, indeed the room less close than the truck, but still close. Awesome job this week! 🤘🏻😬

Edit: what a big difference in render times!! Eevee rocks 😎

Yeah! For this truck scene for sure. It's an instrument really worth to be tamed

  • Kent Trammell replied

nekronavt You're doing some amazing comparative work between Cycles and Eevee! I'm very impressed by your Eevee results. Way better at arch viz than I anticipated.

Are you using Eevee's indirect lighting feature at all?

Also, your quality of lighting is quite good too. Heh funny that's almost my afterthought after observing all the work you've done  😅

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

@theluthier Thank you! Yeah, I'm using irradiance volumes and baking indirect lighting in all scenes. In the truck scene, it doesn't seem to be that important tho, but in the bedroom scene, it's doing its stuff pretty well.

    But in some aspects...

Картинки по запросу have no idea what i'm doing dog

World lighting behaves weird sometimes. Like bedroom scene is super bright before I bake indirect lighting and I don't know how it supposed to work. But maybe it's just an alpha thing.

    Car model by CuRvEmAsTeR

Not happy yet, so probably it's WIP

  • smurfmier1985 replied

nekronavt Great start! I like the highlights on the car, and the contrasting yellowish and blueish light 😊

  • John Sanderson(procyonlotor) replied

nekronavt I like the color.  The reflections don't quite read like a car to me.  It feels like maybe the metalness value is too high, or maybe roughness?  It looks like you have an HDRI in there, but I would expect to see more of it reflected in the clear coat. Good job so far though.

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

    ssmurfmier1985 thanks. :)

pprocyonlotor I tried to experiment on a car paint, but seems like it failed a bit :D Thank you for your opinion!

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

    A little update.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

nekronavt I like this version better, these colors compliment the car more 😊 I think the headlight is very bright though, in the first one you could still see  some of the details in there, on this one you see only bright white. I like how the light on the front highlight some of the lines of the car, makes them pop. Good progress Pavel! 😄

  • silentheart00 replied

    nekronavt Lemme guess: BMW.

    The paint looks better, too.

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

ssmurfmier1985 thank you. Lights are not completely done yet. I need to assign different materials to some polygons. :)

silentheart00 yes, BMW M4 as author declared. I'm not a big fan of cars myself but yeah, this radiator grill give it away for sure :)

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

I find further tweaking senseless in terms of learning, so let it be my final. But I'm still open for tips :)

  • silentheart00 replied

nekronavt Oh, completely missed that link lol.  BMWs are lovely cars to drive, but I have a very narrow data set, so I'm biased lol.

Looks nice!  Although, it looks like it just came off the assembly line, especially those rims.  If that was what you were going for then cool.

  • Aaron Rudderham(thecabbagedetective) replied

nekronavt That is SEXY. Amazing touch with the volumetrics (I think? Don't use them that often), overall stunning. I could critique that the ground could be a tad too reflective but that may be entirely intentional so go for it!
