    Thank you 🙂

Working like 25/8 this week but still not sure if I'll make it all by the deadline. EEVEE going to afterclass for sure. The idea of modeling every single asset by myself was a bad idea :D

    WIP, Cycles

nekronavt Does look nice though 😊 Especially the monkey 😆

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

ssmurfmier1985 thanks :) This is the place where I spend most of the time with blender 😀

@theluthier Sadly, I definitely won't make my homework by the deadline this week. I'm sorry but have an excuse. Birthday stuff 🙂/🙁

nekronavt Is this EEVEE? Looks so much like cycles that I'm confused. If it is then it's pretty darn good.

🙂 Eevee will be later, after class. I took more pie than I could eat this week with modeling the whole scene and assets from a scratch and failed with time management.

  • Jere Haapaharju(swikni) replied

nekronavt Oh right. Need to learn to read lol. Well cycles or eevee the wip is look good already.

Lol well I respect the effort! But yes that definitely turns into a tremendous amount of work for a week 😅

Week #4 Homework Submission (Part 1)

I can't believe it but I did it. And even in both engines. I still think Eevee can't do archviz as good as Cycles, but well. I rendered cycles with 2500 samples on render farm and while it was rendering I managed to set up Eevee and render it. 30 minutes on render farm with powerful hardware (probably 2-3 hours on my machine) with Cycles vs minute with Eevee and result is pretty nice for certain purposes.

  • silentheart00 replied

nekronavt Phew!  You made it!  I can see some of the differences between Cycles and Eevee, but both look pretty good.  Good work.

  • smurfmier1985 replied

nekronavt Nice job!! 😃 That Eevee one looks much closer to the Cycles one than I expected. Considering Eevee is just a baby and will be developed much further the coming years I think it will only get better 😬

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

ssmurfmier1985 silentheart00 thank you :) This scene cost me two sleepless nights, I hope it worth it.

Aaaand now I just sitting here on my kitchen and rolling my kitchen scene in Eevee. It really feels strange, you guys should try it someday.

Bonus render. With some easter egg (it was on previous renders too)

nekronavt That is awesome Pavel, thank you for this test it is so valuable to see and I am happy that Eevee is so much more efficient with almost identical result.

It is absolutely super to know, so 2.8 going to come with all of its great potentials very soon

  • Pavel Mazanik(nekronavt) replied

csehz thank you, man. I'm really glad, that this is useful.

Week #4 Homework Submission (Part 2)

    Sorry for being so late.

I'm constantly not happy with my light match results... Probably exhausted a bit.

  • Kent Trammell replied

nekronavt You know I included your arch viz(s) in my favorites and that I'm astounded at the comparable nature of both the Eevee and Cycles version. You've impressed us all with you Eevee pioneering this month! It's almost always been an after thought to acknowledge your lighting and shading skills. You've got em btw :) A+ from me on the arch viz.

The only note I have is that the AO in the Eevee scene is super strong in the second render (from the countertop perspective). I'd recommend cutting that back by half at least.

And your light match is really close. At first glance I thought "close but significantly brighter than the source. But the more I look the closer I think you actually are. I could see you decreasing the fill / world intensity by 30% or so, to get the shadows a touch darker. However the real difference I think comes from the source model's hood. It creates a dark shadow in the middle of the bust that I think makes the overall bust's shadows seem darker than yours.

All that to say You're B+ on closeness but A+ on appeal since I prefer yours to the source. It's an A to compromise.

I did this render just in a fit of rapture on the possibility to rotate my room in realtime, so it's not a part of homework. I noticed AO later, but was like "meh, I can live with it" :D

And thank you on your notices about the light match. It seems all obvious now, but I was a bit tired and nervous while doing it, so missed some pieces. I even forget to add a shadow catcher plane :D
