    refreshed page, all good

MMiranda this seems very optimized compare to the 2.79 cell fracture. That said, sims in blender are slow in general. Its on the roadmap I think.

    No, no crash

To be honest I don't care much for the realistic VFX aspect of it eventhough its incredibly useful for that. I am primarily excited for the fun mograph stuff that becomes possible. :)

I haven't really messed with simulations, but it looks freaking cool :)
Guess you need a pretty strong computer if you don't want to wait for hours?

  • Cookie Dough(cgcdough)

Did it crash for anyone else?

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel)

They haven't used a lot of fractures on Blender movies now that I think about it, there aren't much destructive simulations on their movies

[Q] is this officially planned to be merged with 2.8 at some point or is this one of those branches that could end up never being merged?

  • Jan-Willem van Dronkelaar(3dioot)

Oh that is very neat! I am so happy to see this much control :)

Fracture is a new physics modifier for Blender that's been in development for some time. It hopes to become an official feature some time in the 2.8 series, but for now it remains experimental. Even in its early stages it has been used for VFX work in film and television. In this livestream we'll cover some of the many features of the modifier and why it's so much more useful than the Cell Fracture addon.

The modifier requires its own special build of Blender, which you can grab here: https://blender.community/c/graphicall/
