No I've never felt a seesaw tradeoff on CGC, tutorials were great back then, now they are great still but they feel more preparation goes behind them, the structure and they are more lengthy... in the past it was a mixture of random topics, now they feel aimed somehow

Heh maybe that's a testament to a soothing voice Matthew. Like that delilah radio station my wife listens to sometimes

J.W. was one of my first Blender teachers and I still hear his voice often, when modelling ;)

  • Matthew Ullrey(ullreym)

I recorded a 3D Panda how to video series. The prep and recording took a long time. But my voice was putting the students to sleep. Ha ha!

Interesting that you bring that up, Omar. Since you've been an engaged member for so long, have you seen quality increase as frequency decreases?

PS: To your point I know it burned Jonathan WIlliamson out for good. Such a bummer when I think about that

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel)

The Piero course sure looks like it took a lot, but I remember it coming out quite fast, and then another massive tutorial was just behind the corner very often

Try making a tutorial and then watch it a few months later... you'll be sooo embarassed

  • Kent Trammell(theluthier)

Preparation is no joke. R&D and rehearsal make a massive difference

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel)

I remember some years ago CG Cookie put out lots more tutorials and now I look back on how burned out you guys must've been

The preparation behind a course is wild man

A new year, a new season ❄️

As a follow-up to the Stylized Forest Course, in this stream we're going to transform the autumn forest into winter one. It's a fun exercise modifying existing assets to completely transform the seasonal context of our forest environment.

We will be ditching the grass for snow, shifting from a vibrant rainbow coloration for primarily white and blue, and exploring procedural methods for adding snow to existing materials. Don't forget to check out the preceding course if you haven't seen it already!
