Both are mean feats of technology in different ways for sure.

the half hour trying to find out where the renamed and moved 'remove doubles' foxed me for a while

I think if you know your work flow both cycles and eevee are pretty darn great. You almost have to look at it on a quality scale. Its the same as comparing video games to films. Both are terrific in visual quality these days, but a comparison will show films have the edge over games.

gotta admit im getting there with 2.8. tweaking it to how i want it. definitely feels more streamlined for some of the things for me.

  • Omar Domenech(dostovel)

Disclaimer thought, I haven't still used 2.8, I've only been watching stuff

That almost sounds like a lack of muscle memory though.

If I want to move a finger I just move it, eevee is like having to go through a lot of mechanisms and contractions, with bolts and cranks, just to move a finger

You know that cute little plane from the Introduction to Hard Surface Modeling course?  Gonzo asked recently if we ever textured it, since he wanted to explore using it for a game project. And...no. No we have not.

Until now! This model makes a great subject to explore Blender 2.8's texturing tools, how they differ from 2.7x, and how they integrate with Eevee. It will be fun. Don't miss it.

NOTE: You can download the finished textured plane with the cloud icon to the right of the title.
