That works well when you want to copy a color in a picture, say in the uv editor.
It's been in Blender for a while :D
but you can pick from any color on the blender window
In the node editor
Over hte color you want ot change
Is the black dot like the "T"( transform key ) in Maya?
You can also hover over the one you want to change and press E to get the color picker :D
