How can I achieve this in blender?

I would look into the Tissue add-on. Comes with Blender just have to turn it on.

Sorry, I don't do much hand holding these days....we're in the middle of a pandemic after all. ;)

Here hold on tight, I'll take you thru a few steps.

When you open Blender go to Edit>Preferences

When the "Blender Preferences" window opens there are a set of tabs along the left. left click on Add-ons.

There is a search function in the upper right, type "tissue" in there.

There should be only one result.

Now left click the documentation tab.

Read the resulting page.....all of it, don't skip anything.

When you're done, watch this video for good measure.  https://vimeo.com/132720942

From here on you have the ability to make the examples above. Experiment a bit, cause its probably not going to work your first few times. Even then it probably won't be perfect the next 10 times you do it. But I know you got it in you.

Alright let go of my hand. I need to go sanitize and quarantine for 2 weeks.
