Hello, this is my attempt to replicate a sword from the Witcher 3 game.
Glad to have you in class again ahmedc! Great job on the sword. I looked over it a couple times before I noticed the lovedly insignia detail on the pommel.
No criticism from me at this point. Just a well-executed model. It's an A from me this week 👌
Week 2 Homework Submission
@theluthier Sorry for missing the deadline.
ahmedc Nice leather work on the scabbard! The metal is fantastic as well. Love it.
ahmedc Your texture looks great! I love the details you added like the pommel design, leather pattern, and wear and tear. This will look so good when applied to a material.
My only note is that the leather is very dark; near black. You absolutely have the right to choose to make it this dark but it's currently hiding the lovely details significantly. Simply brightening up the leather would be my suggestion. Up to you though.
Either way it's an A this week 👏
@theluthier Thanks Kent for the feedback. You are right, some colors are darker than I intended. I'll try to fix it for next week. I'm also planning to do some stitches along the leather patterns, but not sure how to approach it.
I have to say that this class (and classes in general) is a very good motivator for practicing and learning. Thank you.
n647 Thank you! The emissive material along the sword are based on the cavity detection and basically there is no gradient in the emissive. I think it seems to have gradient because of the contrast variation between the emissive material and the metal.
ahmedc Your materials and sword overall turned out so well! The scabbard designs and glowing details really make this sword stand out for me. I've found myself preferring metals further from chrome but for yours I actually like it. Seems more appropriate to me.
My only note is that it's still a touch dark imo. I'd brighten it up a little if it were me. Still you've done great work and earned an A+ 👏
