mmahir07 I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the stream last week! Both the dragon and the hammer look very cool. Are you using the noise texture to vary the roughness value of the glossy material?

The bike textures are looking amazing! Wet / foggy / condensated paint as if it's an early morning ride and the rubber tires are superb. Also the road material is among the best I've seen so far! LOVE how this turned out. Excellent work. A+ on the bike.

I gotta ask: Is the bike really Eevee??

Your light match is pretty close with 2 noticeable differences to me:

    1. The floor is much more illuminated in the source image. It seems to provide more contrast to the overall setup.
    2. It appears as if Ambient occlusion is not turned on or is too subtle. With Eevee AO is must or else the contrast is off and objects lose that proximity feeling.

Still it's a solid effort and I love the model you used. It's a B on the light match. 👌

notcastanza Thank you Ben! I really appreciate it.
Yeah, I know there's something wrong in the part of the tire. I have to rework on it. I am not really satisfied with the tire.

thecabbagedetective Thank you Aaron! You are awesome! :D

@theluthier Thank you Kent! No, I am not using noise texture to vary the roughness value of glossy material I am only using it to bumps in the hammer.

I am so happy that you like them. In regard to the road material, I am facing some strange issue. Like If I remove a material(that is not being used) or move it from first line then the road behaves strange.
So if you could tell me what's going on that'd be great.

And yeah, It is EEVEE! I was surprized by the result as well. I didn't know EEVEE is so amaizing.

About the light matching, I did that in cycle because I was confused with eevee lighting. I have to rewatch the first week's live stream. :D

mmahir07 I can't quite tell what's happening in your screenshots aside from selecting material slot 2 instead of slot 1. Is simply the act of selecting different material slots causing the change to your road material?

  • Mahir Tasin(mahir07) replied

@theluthier Deleting the material(not being used on anything) or moving to 2nd position causing the problem.

Overall, I really like the character piece. I think there's a few places the background could be better separated. Nice rim lights on the legs especially.

For the color match, I think the goal being quite grimier makes it a little harder to judge, but I think the rim and fill  on the shadow side isn't as good as in the source and the key almost feels brighter. It feels close, though.

    Nice work overall!

mmahir07 I used both of your renders in this week's stream as part of my faves. So not much else to say other than great work! It's an A from me this week 👍

@theluthier Thank you very much Kent! I am very happy for that.

mmahir07 You should be happy with your arch viz result! It's quite nice. On a scale from 1-10, 1 being unrealistic and 10 be photo-real, I'd give it a 8. Which is a compliment - 9's are rare and 10's are super rare.

I have 2 criticisms. One is the texture in the window which I talked about in depth during yesterday's stream (recording is being exported as I type, will be available soon). Basically it makes the room feel like it's as high as the top of the city's tallest building. While that's not impossible, it's a distraction from the main purpose of the render: the room itself. It also calls into question the perspective of the room vs the perspective of the outside city.

Also the room feels uniformly bright. Since there's apparently only one window in the room and no interior lights turned on, I would expect the light to be a clear gradient from the window side of the room and gradually diminishing toward the camera.

Overall though it's a solid arch viz rende. Materials are good, I like the subtle reflections in the floor, models are great. An A in my book.

Your light match also looks quite good. I love the source you picked. The biggest difference I see is that the backlight/rim light is visible in the source's yellow puddle reflection but it isn't in yours. Overall that's a small note though. B+ from me.

@theluthier Thank you for the critics Kent! I will always remember it. Trust me I will not do the mistake again. Haha!
