This September, all Blender Live Events will be dedicated to community critiques. That means each week in September we will select a few Citizen Pro members' Blender projects to critique live during a stream.
If you would like the focused eyes and insight of Kent and Jonathan Lampel to help push your Blender Art to the next level, please submit one of your projects to this thread. Both of us specialize in modeling, texturing, shading, and lighting but I may try to convince Wayne Dixon to guest-host an animation critique...
NOTE: While all Citizen members have access to watch these live critique sessions, only Citizen Pro Submissions are eligible for critique. And you must be an active PRO member during the time of the stream too ;)
Thanks @jlampel and timvonrueden for the feedback! Already working on making those changes, and I think it does help a lot!
Here is my project before CGC it like half year old but would still like to get critique
here is the link I took multiple screens https://cgcookie.com/u/mousefactory/projects/before-cgcookie
Getting prepped for the critique tomorrow - Should be fun!
rrichm: I'm trying to figure out how to critique your cute cartoony critter. Is there something particular that you would like feedback about like modeling, rendering, or design? Do you have a certain style in mind that you're trying to achieve that would give me a reference point from which to give feedback?
silentheart00: Same question for you basically - Your model looks like a very accurate representation of the art, so I'm not sure how to approach giving feedback. Is there something specific you'd like us to critique about the wings in their current state?
All those are things that I would like to have feedback on. I would also like feedback on the coloring if possible. I'm trying to achieve a style similar to the Netflix 3D show Knights of Sidonia or the show RWBY by Rooster Teeth. However, the character I submitted is supposed to be a type of slime so I'm not sure if that is very helpful.
Hi everyone.
This image is my very first render, i'm still a beginner cause i've started my learning of blender on...August i think ^^.
Actually i've finished the section one on the introduction to blender and i gonna start the second one, (with animation, rigging, and particles...)
I take the opportunity to say a HUGE thanks for the CG cookie community, the courses are amazing and i'm sure at 100% that I would not have reached this level with just youtube tutorials.
UPDATE on tomorrow's stream: We'll be critiquing submissions from rrichm, michalzisman, mousefactory, and silentheart00. The focus is mostly character-based.
Twill be a good time! See you there.
Sorry, I didn't see this. I don't think the multiple tag thing is working since I got no notification of this at all on the site.
Hi!
I just watched the event. Thanks a ton Kent and Jonathan for critiques. I am so sorry for not being their during the session.
I made the smiling demon and the girl with her hair covering the face in blender only. The rest are a mixture of zbrush and blender. I used zbrush for hair, few tweaks in the anatomy and rendering.
Sculpt 1. I made this stylized female face in zbrush and blender just to see how far I can go without using any references. I do struggle a lot with the eyes. I started this in Blender and this took it to zbrush for hair sculpting.
Sculpt 2. This quadruped is based on a concept art by Mike Corriero https://www.artstation.com/artwork/b1Rn. I sculpted the hair and the muscles in zbrush. This one is only zbrush. I will tone down the anatomy a bit
Sculpt 3. This one is blender only and my 2nd blender sculpt. This one is based on https://www.artstation.com/artwork/qnmAL
I did the hair after watching your tutorial on curve hair modeling on youtube and then I sculpted on it.
Sculpt 4. This was my 1st sculpt in blender and it is based on a concept art by Blaz porenta Knock knock

Its only dyntopo
Thank you again for your critiques. It means a lot to me and I will work on all of the critiques you gave me. I am sorry for not being their during the event. September and october has been a mentally rough phase in my life.
Hey There @jlampel
This is the update to the pier. Overall structure of the piece didn't really change. However, I got some of your advice in there. Let me know what you think, thanks for the awesome critiques.
