Different Perspective

“I think I had a good idea for this setup, but I want to make sure I did it correctly. Here’s what I did: I duplicated the entire collection so Blender duplicated all the screw instances along with the main screw object. Then I made the new mesh data separate and changed the screw mesh in the duplicated collection into a larger cylinder. All the instances followed the new mesh shape, which is what I wanted. After that, I used those cylinders as boolean cutters on the camera body, and it worked — the holes were cut cleanly. For the top object, I created another collection with top cylinders and used the same workflow. Please let me know if this approach is correct or if there is a better way to improve it.”

There are always tons of approaches to doing a task in Blender. The main thing is that if it gives you the results you are after then it's all good. You can take any approach, because there will always be one more. Efficiency is another topic of course, but that comes with experience and failing a lot.

If something doesn't make your whole mesh go crazy and look good then it's a good approach. Remember that in the course I'm just sharing how I'd do things. Maybe if I made this camera again I'd use other methods.
