Polybooks

I'm revisiting this amazing course, may be I'll finish it this time ! :)

Playing with the modelling tools we explore in the first sections, I came up with this belt.

Still playing around, I guess I'm done with the blockout for these overalls.

Will try to sculpt the details with a multires modifier now. If you see some heresy in the topology, please tell me :)

The mannequin is the Default Character Creator actor.

Ready to go into sculpt mode. But I still need to blockout the shirt.

Went on the lacing, which is a pain in the back... I'm using Bezier curve, it took me an hour to establish the base.

If you know any easier method, don't let me drown on this one ^^

I can feel the pain, using curves is always well, a pain. I can't think of any other method really, but maybe there's an addon in the Blender Market that makes the task much easier.

I somewhat learnt a lot to tame the Bezier beast, at least it wasn't a waste of time just for that. I really don't know how the retopology / baking will do...

    And the full outfit.

Now it's time to destroy the whole thing in sculpt mode :D

    Thanks :)

In fact and without any flattery, my overall progress skyrocketed since I wander on CgCookie !

Here's the first batch on the wrinkles. I'm not happy with what I did on the front of the overalls, I feel like it's better on the back with vertical tension.

I wanted to check back this course which I know has a trick that could help me do the normals of the sole and every videos have a "Media not found" message.

    Hey Laurent,

Maybe you could watch this Lesson in the HUMAN Course:  https://cgcookie.com/lessons/sculpting-clothing-accents

I found it extremely useful, and I have always had a lot of trouble, whenever I tried to sculpt wrinkles on clothes.

And can you tell us exactly which Courses give the 'Medai no found' error, please? Amber might be able to fix that.

Thanks Martin, I'll check that out.

The broken (for me) course is the one I linked above : https://cgcookie.com/courses/modeling-a-post-apocalyptic-vehicle

I think I'm done with the front, may be I'll tweak the back at some point. Sorry to spam my images, but just doing that helps me greatly to have a critic eye on the model.

The Art of Sculpting could totally help:

Also I'll see if Amber can Rambo that modeling course, bring it back from retirement.

Amber has restored the course, you shouldn't get the media not found error any longer. Double check it's working when you can Laurent, linking you up:

Yes, it's working again ! Now I'll check if the modeling of the tire can help me fake the sole of the shoe :)

It worked quite well, still some tuning to do but I'm quite happy.

I did a "quick" test to see how the shoe will bake, and I'm quite relieved... Crap, baking normals can be a nightmare !

I'm quite happy to have this detail on a 1555 triangle shoe. still some tweaking is needed on the sole but it's no big deal, the lowpoly topography is just a tiny to far.

    Holy moly! 🤯

I've gotta say SSillikone, I'm super impressed by all the work you've put in here, I think it's paying off with every new post. Selfishly I'm also beyond thrilled that this initially stemmed from RELIC, but it's crazy to see how you've taken some of the techniques and totally re-purposed them. Even if you haven't watched the course in its entirety yet, taking bits and pieces of it and forging out on your own is exactly the purpose of the course so major congratulations on all the work you have accomplished so far!

Thanks a lot, Chunks ! It gives me quite some strength to read your compliment !

When I follow a course, I'm firstly interested by the workflow, then the tricks and shortcuts along the way. Your Relic course delivers that perfectly.

I intended to follow the course again when I posted the belt, then I quite digressed, haha !

I go back to my UVs, see ya around.
