Solid viewport shading - Random colour

Heya,

In the desk start file, it opens up with a solid viewport editor (and the material render viewport and shading editor etc). It's set to random in the colour dropdown and gives a myriad of different colours.

In terms of a 3d working art practice, what is the reason for setting it to this? Is it to quickly and easily identify separate objects in the scene? Also does this method have a name? Ie one that is commonly referred to - other than solid random colour?

    Hi Harris,

You are correct, it is to quickly and easily identify separate objects in the scene.

I have no idea, if there is a special name for this.

That is exactly its use. If it doesn't have a name lets give it one. I shall call it "Random Extravaganza Viewport Color " Or REVC for short. It is pronounced Rev-Ce to make it cute.
