One corner doesn't bevel

posted to: Outlining the Shape

I can bevel the left corner, but not the right. I select it, but it stays at 90 degrees angle. Why??? It works with other ridges. My object scale is 1.000 and I even tried Shift N.

    Hi Marie delama ,

That could be caused by so-called 'double Vertices'; in Edit Mode, Select everything (with A) and then M > Merge > By Distance.

    See if that helps.

Also how are you beveling? With the modeling tool or the modifier? Solutions will be based of off the method you are using. If merging vertices doesn't help, try uploading a few screenshots and give a little more context on your scene.

Martin Bergwerf: Merge by Distance works!!! The beveling is now possible! 🥳

Thank you Omar for your answer. I was using the modeling tool, because the exercise/project uses that way. But that makes me wondering what is the difference between the modeling tool and the modifier for beveling? I know that the last is non-destructive, then when using the first worths it?

There's no wrong way, it will depend on a case by case basis. As you say, the modifier will offer a non-destructive method along with more options, while on the mesh itself is just a modeling approach if you need that geometry there. Modifiers can only do so much, most of the time you need to actually model things into the mesh.
