Halloween Challenge 2021 WIP - The baby

Contests and Challenges

Scene:  Baby room.

Is the baby screaming?

We turn towards the cradle. [scary music...maybe Hitchcock-Psycho-shower-like...].

Looking over the edge, we see nothing, apart from a [dolly zoom] (pacifier, or baby cap, or....)

The missing baby is the scream!

That's it. The effect will have to come from camera movement, timing, music and lighting.

Don't know yet if it will be in black and white, or 'Blair witch'-like or...

Still some modeling to be done (it's a baby room after all; can't be empty...),  but nothing complicated, that will not be my challenge...the challenge will be everything else ;)

After a short break, I have been working on the elephant in the room:

    (FMI: 64 Samples, with Denoising.)

Still need to do: the blankets and so in the cradle, the commode, some towels or diapers or both...and then working on the Shaders and lighting and, when time allows, improving on what's there...

I will be able to finish this in time ;)

Those stuffed animals are looking terrific! Nice work!

  • spikeyxxx replied

    Thanks jammingammon !

They're so much fun to make ;)

I'm loving the fabric texture on those stuffed animals!

Are you going to play around with lighting on this? I've been watching too many spooky videos on YT where people see creepy stuff on nannycams so my brain almost automatically adds some sort of IR overlay to this scene. :D

  • spikeyxxx replied

Don't have a lot of time today, so I only made the commode (finally!):

Made a font for the brand :

using 2D Curves, for the baby powder, wipes and cream:

    And another test render:

Still need to model the diapers and I have no idea how to do that yet...and the inside of the cradle: blanket etc...

That will probably take me two days and then I will need to do some final tweaks and work on shading and lighting...

I will have to start rendering the latest on Saturday morning, because this render was 1920 x 1080 with 256 Samples and that took a little over two hours...I think I will go for 3940 x 2160 with 1024 Samples, so that will take about 32 hours on my PC....(if I don't use it at that time!)

Finished the diapers (for now; there's still some things to improve, but then again they are pretty small in the image, so not too important...when there is time left...):

"Happy Butt" I love that!  😅😅

You're project is really coming together spikeyxxx

  • adrian replied

    Ha Ha Happy Butt.

Is it just me, am I seeing something in the shape of the 't',

or is this intentional, being the rear end of the logo?

    🤣

  • spikeyxxx replied

...something in the shape of the 't',

That is just a happy coincidence @adrian2301 :)

I did try to make the 'B' shape reminiscent of a baby's behind...

Made another (2.5 hour) test render, but forgot to Save the Image...

Anyway, mostly done now, I think. Two days left to improve the modeling in a few Objects and make the Shading and Lighting ready for the final render.

  • spikeyxxx replied

I actually did save yesterdays Render, just in a wrong Folder ;)

Final modeling today, then tomorrow Shading and Lighting. I have a feeling that there is still something missing, but I can't put my finger on it...

Made a knot today, so that I can tie up the loose ends:

Not perfect, but just a very small detail in the final image...

    Maybe something like this:

  • adrian replied

    Great knot spikeyxxx ,

    There is one thing missing,

    a baby! 😱

  • spikeyxxx replied

    Sure, @adrian2301 !

That's the elephant in the room ;)

  • spikeyxxx replied

    Final Image!

Did a full render (2000 Samples) yesterday (rendered in 2.93, which took less than 9 hours, compared to more than 32 hours in 3.0, on my old hardware) and then looked at where improvements could be made and then did a final render:
