The bottom image is my procedural lava shader submission for The Texturing Fundamentals Course. It was a decent attempt but didn't feel like it was right where I wanted it to be. After fiddling with the nodes more, I came up with the top image which is much closer to the picture in my head. I dialed down the displacement a bit and made the crackle more subtle and closer to the edges.
Looking pretty good to me, but the render is soooooo high definition. Good job there.
Yeah it was a detailed render but I didn’t want to lose detail. I might do another render with the crackle a tiny bit larger.
