I had a vision of this image in my mind for a long time. It's from a story that I am working on right now. I am a big fan of any architecture that is associated with bodies of water. I started to look at a lot of Italian architecture to do this matte concept.
I also entered a contest on this subject which was hosted by Bobby Chiu(Alice in wonderland concept artist) and judged by Dylan Cole(Avatar concept art director). Due to lack of time, it had a lot of flaws but I still managed to win it.. After that, I worked on it for a day to finish it off.
It was 100% completed in Photoshop with no use of 3D.it has completed in a time period of 3 days. My thanks to Dylan Cole and Bobby Chiu for the contest.(Photoshop.3010 pixels wide)

My mind was blown When I read "NO use of 3D". I had never seen anything like this before.
This looks amazing, but how did you paint it in Photoshop without using 3D models or pictures? Could you make a tutorial?
Gorgeous! I can't imagine how many hrs you worked on it! Absolutely beautiful!! :)
Man, this is fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
