This was inspired by a concept piece I ran across online and tracked down to here:

Was all done in Blender (except for some custom brushes created in Photoshop) and rendered in Cycles.
Cool!
I'm bad for developing a character just from some practice or other and then I start coming up with a back story! Rarely, do I build from a story idea. Kinda the cart before the horse, I suppose! That's a great model and it definitely inspires me to build a history around it!!
Thanks Forrest. This was just a "quick sketch" done mostly on a Saturday morning. I have about 100 projects that I have started and never finished; wanted to force myself to move from nothing to a mostly finished render in one day. Had been reading medieval history and the idea of an "alien bishop" just seemed to fit with where this thing was headed. Was trying to convey authority with grace. The whole thing started to test out some new techniques on painting textures with a rake brush and use that as displacement to get some "gigeresque" textures - that is what is on the robe. Anyway, that was the thought process - not much story behind it, more a project to develop new techniques.

Great character! Is there a back story?
Well done. Love the emotion you've created.
Thanks Edouard!
This picture tells a story by itself. Great atmosphere. Congrats !
