Just playing around today with cell fracture for a stone wall and learning how to do grass. Yes, I am aware that the shader texture on the stones isn't right. I didn't feel like unwrapping each individual stone. I know how to do it. Just didn't want to.
I don't know about quick unwrap or generated sockets. I will have to investigate that.
Good experiment. You can always do a dirty quick unwrap if you're feeling lazy or use one of the object or generated sockets.
