Starglow Concept - 001 Final

My first matte painting made for my personal comic "Starglow". Made using different images for the land, mixed together. I've used a mountain texture to make the inside of Moon's crack. I've had really fun while making this piece. Hope you like it. Tools: Photoshop CS5 + Wacom Cintiq

Oh, wow, do you already know me? ^^

  • I knew her before she was famous. A bright future I think.

Wow, thanks for your comment! ^^
Yes, I've used two different images to compose the mountains, two images for the land on the background and two for the land on the foreground (the flowers on the left and the grassy promontory on the right), one image for the clouds, but I've changed the colors and the softness of them. The sky is a colour shade made by hand with PS brushes.
I've worked in grayscale then I've coloured the whole piece with brushes and added details here and there (like grass, particles etc.)

I don't often draw by hand lately, because digital drawing is faster and it offers possibilities that traditional drawing don't, but I have a lot of drawings made in the past years that I can show on this community (I've attended the art institute, so I can draw realism and many other things) :)

Thanks for following me, having a new "fan" means a lot for a wannabe illustrator like me.. :)

  • So all of this is a conglomeration of different images? (Photo manipulation) Very, very well done. You have done a very convincing job, and managed to keep the various pictures from feeling like they don't belong together. They all fit seamlessly together. Your volumetric effects look great also. Did you paint anything by hand? Gonna follow you, the 3 images I've seen really show promise.
