Hi, im 17 and im an aspiring concept artist or illustrator. I have been trying to improve my digital drawing and hope I could have some advice on this drawing.
Thank you for the help! ive made a more recent drawing and posted it. Tell me what you think about that and ill keep all your advice in mind next time I draw.
Not an expert by any means but the first thing we need to know is what are we looking at, I think the general figure is ok but lacking in volume, we go back to basics, geometric shapes and how they react with our light source, I think that would be the first step to improve this piece, also you need to decide what is important in it, isit the gun? or the helmet or just a part of this guy, maybe helmet and chest, the rest check composition, rules of thirds is what I go for, some people use golden ratio, once you have that figured out you know when to apply yourself with the details and color as well as contrast. go back to my gallery check the skull dude, the armor y not really important, the amulets or clothes really aren't important, most of the detail is on the skull and whatever little is close to it, again rule of thirds, divide the canvas in three parts where the lines intersect that's where the eye will rest and that's how you know where things need to be placed, what things? extra detail, contrast, lights, etc.
Keep working, all I can say is check tutorials, see what other people are doing and don't give up, don't close yourself to criticism, keep practicing, and don't forget to have fun.
