Hey guys!
I'm currently following the mesh modeling bootcamp and I wanted to test my new knowledge in a short project. That's why I recreated this speaker from Hercules I have at home, and I'd like to get some critique on the topology. For example how I could spread my geometry more evenly on the big circle in the middle, without making a mess of my topology. Another thing I'm not sure about is the rectangle between the two circles. I added two egde loops in order to get a sharper form, but I think it created too many edges to that area.
I'm looking forward to hearing what you think I could improve.
Unfortunately, I do not have any knowledge depending mesh models, so I cannot really help you there, but I can say that I think it really looks amazing already. I am quite sure it will look epic once it is finished!
@jlampel I know it has been a little while, but I applied your critique and made sure the circles were circular by rearranging the edge loops. I have not updated the renders on this page, but I learned a lot from your feedback!
Hey good idea! Looks very impressive to me, I'm still on the Cartoon Head. Hopefully soon I can do this too!
Nice work Bauke, you did a fine job! There are quite a few 6 sided poles (one at the top and many near the knobs), but since it's on a flat surface it doesn't affect the shading. Also the loops around the circular speaker parts aren't evenly spaced so my guess is that it's not perfectly circular when subdivided. Other than that, it's looking great👍
It's excellent! I wish I could model that well!
