So, I am breaking my own rule here by posting something in public when, in honesty, I am not completely happy with it. I have learnt a lot about Blender's hair particle system while doing this, but the number 1 thing I have learnt is that I kind of hate it. I find it really, REALLY difficult to get good looking results. The settings are all confusing and counter-intuitive in what they do vs what they are labelled.
Maybe it's just me.
I hope you like it anyway (despite the above rant).
Cute 😊! Great work 👍!
The hair is okay, but I'm not sure about the hedgehog's ears. Although it's been decades since I saw a hedgehog, and I may be wrong.
dduketogo Thanks! Just hair particles with interpolated children. A few guide hairs in the directions and then just played with roughness settings - mainly endpoint rough giving that effect. Hope that helps.
Very realistic and impressive hedgehog.
How did you modeled needles that pointing various direction?
I hope you will show more of your renders...it looks great
@jlampel I also love hedgehogs! Never had one as a pet, but see them in the garden now and again. We used to leave saucers of milk out for them when I was little but I don't think you are actually supposed to do that as it's not good for them.
Promising news about 2.8 hair! Thanks.
I do like it, thanks for sharing! Fun fact, I LOVE hedgehogs and think they're the best kind of pet.
Also, Blender's hair system should be getting an update later on in 2.8X.
I like it despite the above rant.
