This is my completed sci-fi helmet following along the concepts in Kent Trammell's Sci-fi helmet courses. Did this in Blender 3.0 which had the box trim and lasso trim to cut the sculpt. Did the process sculpt, kitbash, retopo, texture and composite however didn't fully unwrap to texture.
I'm quite proud of this piece but any criticisms will be much appreciated to improve my future projects.
wattashot okay thank you, I think I see what you mean on the blue parts, silver canister and its hose and the braids and its terminators.
Looks brilliant! My only criticism would be to add more dirt/scratches to the textures. The clean look is fine, but you've already added some scuffs to indicate it's worn - I just feel the other parts look too new in comparison, so could do with some further dents, scratches, dirt, etc. Either that or go for a completely clean/new look. Great job though!
euv ah yes I always liked a wireframe render with subd topology.
Dayum! The last two pics, wireframe and clay rendered are my favorites.
@jamminstudio Yeah, its good these courses are still up to learn from. I know the basics of modeling and texturing in Blender fairly okay so it was easier to follow more the concepts he taught. Also the lasso trim is built in into newer versions of blender which I used instead of the add-on. I skimmed through the texturing parts but didn't really use it. I more textured the way Jonathan Lampell did in his texturing fundamentals course as its more up to date.
Really nice work
Wow. Nice work! Gives me a little fallout nostalgia. I was looking at that course the other day, considering giving it a shot at some point. You found it wasn't too difficult to follow with 3.0?
