Well Guys,
This is my first of two submission to the gallery of a piece of my own work (concept artwork not included), putting into practice the techniques learned from all the hours of watching Kent, Jonathan and other’s tutorials on CG cookie.
I decided a few months ago I would try and do my own model, the only question I had, was what should I do?
Well, before CGCookie 5 arrived I use to pop over to Concept Cookie from time to time and take a look at what they were doing and just happened to drop upon a piece ‘Foliage Robots’ by James McDonald. I thought this presented an ideal piece of concept art for me as no humans were involved; and there were plenty of mechanical parts which appealed to me as a mechanical engineer.
You’ll notice I have actually attempted two of James’s sketches and putting a bit of artistic licence in their conversion to 3D. Looking back on the saved files I started the modelling process in in September 2014 with the plants in the terrarium, so more than a year ago. I have deicided that after many hours of fiddling with textures, depth of field etcetera the time has come to submit them to the gallery and move on to something new.

Thanks for saying so, it makes all the time spent worthwhile.
Wow!
This is awesome!! I work with several engineers and most of them are fairly deficient in the artistic areas but you certainly have a nice balance going on, here! Very impressive work, sir!!
I Love it!
