anarchymedes : I'm agree with you, the final look isn't exactly like real sand dunes. But I think it's a really interesting method to make some landscape quickly! And if you take time to place some over 3D detail, maybe it'll be more realistic... ;-)
I don't know: I've watched that course, but I kinda disagree with the results. Those razor-sharp edges look like Obsidian, not like sand. Otherwise, excellent work.
@shkyo30: It is an excellent way to make landscapes: just not the sandy ones. Some Obsidian or Flint Desert on an alien world, perhaps...
