I've seen many great Pokeballs online done by CG artists.
It made me want to try it on my own. ^^
I would love to receive constructive critics on this WIP render. Please share your thoughts in the comments :)
yyukinoh1989 Hey, sorry for the late reply. The displacement map I used came from the Sci-Fi Helmet Texturing and Shading course that you can find on CGCookie. Here is the link :

yyukinoh1989 Wow thx a lot for the comment and positive critique. Sorry for the late reply I just saw your comment.
I'm not at home right now and can't sheck for the map (this is an old project and I can't remember what I've used) I'll look it up later. I guess you're right and the button should be white, The only explanation I have to why I did it that way is because I must have found it cooler like this. :p
really great work . love how you did it . lookst amazing with the scratches and so on it . was the siplacemant map you used for that free ? if so could you share where you got it from ?
i love how you brought it like a painted matal pokeball that has a lot of history. one place i would add a bit more of the paint back would be the button . where the trainers push the pokeball . i believe that should be white too .
again youre making great stuff :o
zzinnfandel Great I'm happy to hear that keep on going on Blender that soft is only going to grow and knowing it is only a good thing.
Np regarding your assignment. Take your time and good luck!
shinsaku Yes I will certainly do so! It will have to wait, I have a big assignment to handle first though. Man, only started, but I'm really loving Blender!
I did bevel those sharp edges but very slightly because I still wanted them to stay pretty sharp visualy.
Yet you might be right, I should increase them a bit.
shinsaku thanx a lot . i still need to finish that course . good to know they share the displacement map there :)

Thx, please do go ahead and model one. Would you please notify me once posted !? I want to see. :)
This is very cool looking. It looks as if it has survived many tough battles. Perhaps there's a starter pokemon in it??
Makes me want to make one too.
