Peanut, the bone collector Final

7 loves

After a long break, I come back with artwork based on a concept by Justin Gerard (https://justingerardillustration.artstation.com/projects/YKG35K).

I modeled / sculpted / textured everything by myself (except the eyes, these come from the Auto Eye addon, I can definitely recommend). And of course I used Substance Painter to create the materials.

Clothes made in MD and tweaked in Blender (because the MD trial version ended 😛).

I wanted to mix two styles - stylized (because of the magical creature) with realism (real materials, textures, etc.).

Be sure to visit my Artstation, that's where you can find all the renders.
I hope you like it!

  • Holy Moly! This is exploding my brain! Can I ask about the magic glow? Is it a post effect in Photoshop, or is that possible as a volume, particle or post effect in Blender? I think I can see a consistent shape from different angles in the different renders! And if it is done in Blender what's the keyword to look into? Really amazing work, thanks for sharing!

I'm really glad you like it! Hope your head didn't explode :D
This magic glow is a volumetric fog. I connected few nodes to a density input of the principled volume shader and animated it.
I'll be posting a short video for this project on instagram, twitter and probably artstation as well, so you can take a look if you are interested.

  • Wow, Ewa!!! I absolutely love your texturing skills. 😍 A well deserved, Staff Pick. 🏆

Thank you, actually painting this little guy by hand for the first time ever was tricky, but I'm really glad you like it 😊
