Outwitters Tribute: Adorables Heavy Final

3 loves

Outwitters is/was an Asynch Turn-Based Strategy game played on a Hexagonal battlefield and mixed elements of tower defense with elimination tactics. It was released to the iOS app store over 10 years ago. If you looked today you won't be able to find it. But if you own it you can still play it with another in a pass and play fashion.

This single game got me so hooked into it's fun mechanics that it inspired me to want to make my own turn based game over 10 years ago. I found CGCookie shortly thereafter and have been on a modeling trip ever since. They finally turned off the servers yesterday that enabled competition play across devices but pass and play still works.

I'm finally starting to get the skills to make characters, and I wanted to make a tribute to the game that started it all.

This guy is called a Heavy unit. He has the most life coming in at 4hp, can move 2 spaces, and hits with 3 damage. This variant of the heavy is from the Adorables team. There are 4 teams each with their own variant.

I made him into a 3D print and originally made a simple base but got an extra dose of inspiration today to recreate one of the tiles from the Adorables' maps. Whipped frosting terrain, with sprinkles!

I'm learning more and more about the value of making my own custom supports. The body and arm supports are awesome and just snap off easily with almost no clean-up needed.

One surprise feature on this model is that he was printed in Pink PLA - Glow. And he looks awesome in the dark. Even lights up the frosting.
