Out for a stroll Final

This is the first time I have worked properly through the workflow of sculpting -> retopo -> multires. I have made heavy use of the Retopoflow add-on and various skills and techniques I learned from CGCookie tutorials. It is (obviously) a clay render which I will be moving on to texturing! I'm still barely more than a beginner, but I don't think it turned out too badly myself!

  • Thanks for the hint! I`ll try that.

  • Hey

    Thanks! Really appreciate that.

Yeah the cracks in the ground are one of those things that are actually laughably simple but turn out looking disproportionately good - almost by accident! All it is is a texture from textures.com (Rough Sand) which I then used MindTex 2 to turn into a height map. I then applied that using a bump node (plug the image texture into the height input) and masked it with a simple noise texture so it only shows in patches across the surface.

If that's not clear enough let me know and I'll send you a shot of the node setup.

    Thanks

  • Nice work!! The astronaut has a very believable look, and I like the modeling of the environment. I am curious of the final result. Good luck!

BTW: How did you make the cracks (the rough spots) on the ground?
