This weapon was from the first magical girl series I read as a kid (Tokyo Mew Mew). I learned about the hair particle settings in this project and after having it in my in-progress pile, I really just wanted to render it and wrap this up.

I was thinking the same thing, a weapon? Must be like one of those Men In Black tiny gun that fires a nuclear weapon. It's an awesome result, I love how it looks with the hair particles, don't know how you achieved that but it feels and look so great. The only nit picky thing I'd point to is the lighting, falls a bit flat. You can see in the middle part that has lovely green and yellow colors but comes out a bit dull, some nice light can make this cool model pop even more. The background can also benefit from gradients, you can radially get a middle spot with the same color but saturate it more, get that shininess going and it'll probably remove that horizon termination line that is seen. All in all, it's awesome work. 🤟🏼
Thank you, I'll try to improve the lighting with what you suggested.
The horizon line is actually the intersection between 2 planes as I built an open box around the model when playing with the lights.
Looks great: very intricate. I, for one, have no idea how this could be done with the particle hair (might’ve given it a try with the new curves hair and geometry nodes, though). Er… is this really a weapon?😯
