So the lantern was made with simple modelling (here's a clay render : http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2017/46/4/1510792102-tower-side-clay.jpg) and the "pattern" (motif) was made with a graphic texture from poliigon, added with transparency to fake a real plaque.
