Interceptor300SL Part 2 Work In Progress

6 loves

I'm modeling a small spaceship that is going to be used on a short VFX video.

Sometime ago I presented the main engine without materials.

Now the spaceship is ready. As you can see it's the mix of a classic 1963´s Mercedes 300SL with some fantasy spaceship wings, and the main engine designed before.

Wings and car are modeled using the classic subdivision+proximity workflow, while engine, guns and rockets are modeled using no subdivision  bevel+boolean workflow. Eventually I realized that each object needs different aproach depending on the shape (more curvy or more geometric).

Materials are mainly procedural for rust and grime, except some material that needed a detailed texture like the treadplates (textures from www.textures.com).

Character on the side pic is from www.mixamo.com

Next steps:

- Model my own alien pilot character.

- Animate a VFX video mixing this spaceship with real world video.

All modeling and texturing in Blender. All renders in Cycles.

  • Beautiful work Ricardo! So much Details, love it!

Well that is extremely awesome. An incredible amount of work must've gotten into modeling all of that and it's also rigged, so even more work. Five stars award to your Interceptor300SL.

      Thank you very much.
Yes, there has been a lot of work. Not only because of the details, but also for many discards trying different workflows, concepts, tweaking materials, etc.
Eventually I think it's ok, but I always feel that it could have been better and done faster.
      Anyway, still trying to improve.
