Fundamentals of Digital Lighting in Blender Final

3 loves
Finally finished fundamentals of lighting course!

There was not too many exercises for this course, so I decided to do a small render on my own for almost every video lesson. Kinda like taking notes, but in a visual way and it also forces me to take in the stuff being taught.

I ordered the images by having the 3 most interesting exercises at the top (portrait and the bedrooms in cycles/Eevee) and after those the images start going from lesson 1 onwards.

This is awesome. Great initiative and going the extra mile. Before the last image, the old dude model, the one from the right with that kinda greenish lighting from the top, it looks so so good man. Great work.

      Thank you Omar!

I was reading an article on how movies light their villains, and I wanted to try and combine 2 examples from the article, Hannibal Lecter and Voldemort. I actually also like that render, It was the first time I felt like I really understood lighting, at least a little bit.

    Excellent results Jesse.
I do have one critique for you, the third image in the match lighting exercise.
It looks like you used three lights, Purple, Blue and Yellow.
The purple and blue light are good, perhaps the strength could be increased a touch or bring the light source closer to the model for a more vibrant color, they look a little softer than the reference.
Also there should be another light, a darker orange, from over the shoulder, and the yellow light more in front and more towards a lighter orange color.
I would also probably use an area light for this, as the light is more spread than from a single point.
    Everything else is really awesome.
    Well done.

Oh yeah, that one. I have to admit I was a little antsy to finish the course (it was the last portrait I did) so I rushed a bit and got sloppy. Kinda foolish, as the point is to learn as much as I can and rushing is counterproductive to learning. I think I´ll head back and try to polish it up a bit more.

Thank you for the feedback Adrian! I'll try out your tips to see if I can improve the lighting.
