Fundamentals of 3D Mesh Modeling in Blender - Crate Final

Two Crates from the 'Fundamentals of 3D Mesh Modeling in Blender' course.

Orange one was done following the course videos. The green one was my own attempt, it was Halo inspired.

Very well done Robbie. They do have a Halo vibe. Keep on rocking, surrender to the god of productivity.

Oh yes.....very rarely these days does the procrastination monster hang around. Between wanting to learn here at CGCookie, instead of just guessing and hoping for the best, and the small group of people I was scouted out to help out with an ambitious project of recreating Old School Runescape in VR, which is pretty much just primitive shapes, nothing to advanced, but yeah, I've never been more motivated to learn and from what Grant Abbitt said with one of this tutorials, "Once you've done the tutorial, go back and do it with the least amount of help from the video and then do one more that is of your own theme". Side note - Plus the dopamine hit I get from feedback you guys deliver here and group of guys working on that VR project.😂

    Excellent!
Two for the price of one, it's awesome to see the skills learnt put to good use.
    Well done!
An idea's for your next project?

Continue with the rest of the fundamental courses, see if there's anything I might be missing, write it down in my notebook and then practise those techniques. I know from this one and the Press Start course, there was one thing I was unaware of being able to do. Beveling an edge as appose to creating two loop cuts either side with the Shift + Ctrl + R, that being said, I'm a, make faces quads or tris instead of ngons. The Ctrl + or - is a nifty trick as well I've learnt here, that one would have helped alot when I was creating the buildings for a Old School Runescape VR mod that I've been helping with for the game Blade & Sorcery.
One thing I'm glad I know how works now is the 'Sharp' option, I remember looking at that option when ever I've had to do basic UV unwrapping wondering what that strange blue line did, now I know😂. Oh and the importance of the bevel modifier instead of Ctrl + B.
