Here's an abandoned road that serves as a nature trail.
I finished off the scene based on the comments from this weeks live stream critique. Many thanks to @theluthier and @jlampel for their comments. Listening to their impressions really helped figure out what I was trying to show.
I added a sunlamp and some off camera trees that really made the lighting pop. Also more plants and variations
I had just watched the procedural masks tutorial and was inspired to start playing with painting ground textures.
Textures are from Poliigon, Textures.com, Textures Haven, and the old Blenderguru Nature Academy course. I borrowed the leaves from the grass course.
train30 I usualy use the Principled BSDF combined with a transluceny shader via a mix shader node. It just gives you more control on how much the plant is translucent. Also plug in the color texture of the plant into the translucency node and darken it slightly.
ttomaslapes Thanks for the comment. I love your nature scenes.
I agree something is off with the hosta.
What shader groups to you use for your translucency. I used the add shader to combine the principled BSDF with the translucency following Andrew Price's old Blender Guru tutorials. But, I noticed @jlampel used a mix shader in the plant course.
Hi,
Great job!
Although something about the plant in the foreground seems off.
I think it is because it has no translucency and it is very flat looking.
But otherwise great job!
Woah, huge improvement! Way to go train30 👏
pointoflife14 I watched the plant and grass courses and added a bit of everything. My grass isn't as good as the Grass Essential. I am going to keep tweaking it.
I use blenderguru's Grass Essentials for grass and plants but that one costs. However, IvyGen is free and built in, just go to UserPrefs and enable it in the add-ons panel
Cool! And once you start its all over because it's really rewarding and fun to create ground textures IMO
