Finished the Motorcycle Modeling Tutorial Work In Progress

6 loves

I finally finished the motorcycle modeling tutorial.

The textures are a bit basic, there are a few things, like the simple handlebars and the lack of textures for the speedometer I could address, but I'm finished for now.

Overall I'm really happy with the shape.  I would like to come back at some point and give it better textures, fix a few nits in the model, and animate it, but the modeling is done.

Edit: Changed to WIP.  The renders are close, but they're not quite there yet.  It needs just that little bit of polish to be finished.

Hey wardred the modeling looks pretty awesome, top job 👍
Only the pillion seat looks a bit odd, not sure why!
As Omar mentioned the lighting setup would give the render a lift.
Also the perfect shading could use some un-perfection,
a small variation in roughness on the body work, grease and grime on the chain and engine.

And one thing with the tyres, they are perfectly round, adding the vehicle weight to the point of contact with the road will help also.
You can easily do this with a lattice modifier

      Thanks Adrian!

I'm not sure if I like the butt creases - edit Contouring - or not in my seats. I might make a couple without them.

I definitely need to work on lighting, and the spinning in the animation. I think doing a whole "dramatic showroom" would be a better setting. That, and maybe the garage scene tutorial. Edit: That might be a good setting for it, but I'm not hopping into that one. Just the lighting and materials.

I like your idea about the wear and tear too. Maybe put that on a different layer and/or with a color ramp so I can bring more of those elements in, or less, as I choose.

I think I'm going to take a step back and focus a little on the lighting and materials tutorials, then come back to this armed with those, so it may take a moment before I get this finalized, but I AM going to improve this, eventually.

I want you, Omar, and @lutz to know I appreciate your feedback and will take it into account in my final renders, even if it takes a while for me to make them.

Your bike looks great man. I'd say only two things, the animation is crazy fast spinning around the model a lot, maybe it can spin twice around it much slower. And you can try some other lighting setups, dramatic lighting and close up shots with some depth of field always looks badass.

      Thank you Omar,
Yeah, the spinning is out of control.
I'll see what I can do with the lighting.

    The renders are awfully close.

I'd love any feedback for getting them just a bit further.
