  • I really love your clown. I never read the comic, but I remember the movie and I recognized him right away. Great execution of the model, materials, and good lighting too. Does your 2nd turnaround have some procedural dithering or old style printing filter applied to it?

You have a really great stylized shader going. It feels cell shaded without having the typical sharp shadow gradations of cell shading. Maybe it's just careful lines, I don't know, but it works well.

I also love the clay material overtaking your material in the turn around.

A nit, but it bothered me - the sharp cuts back to the beginning of the turn. What if you did a ping pong of looking at the right side of the face to looking at the left side and back? Or even reverse the turn before you get to the half way point?

Thank you, Wardred, that is kind of you. I grew up collecting and reading Spawn comics. To me personally, the art style and story of Spawn is what captured my attention. I wasn’t really into DC Comics or Marvel Comics. I do love Blade, Deadpool, Spider-Man, The Punisher, and X-Men from Marvel. For me, Image Comics is the GOAT.

There is no procedural dithering or filters applied. The model is entirely hand-painted. I also didn’t use any materials or shaders. This render was taken as is from the 3D viewport. To enhance the painting effect by making it more vivid, I added an RGB Curve node within the Compositor. That may be why it looks like a cell shader.

Thank you, I added the clay overlays as proof of authenticity to my work in order to prevent any misconceptions that it might be someone else’s or AI-generated. Yes, that could also work, but it all depends on the final layout of the scene. Thanks again, Wardred. Take care of yourself, man.
